IT HAS BEEN several years, still it is perspective I've never forgotten.

Does he make your world bigger?

This is the proper test for a romantic relationship, she suggested; it is the proper test for nearly everything, I've come to realize.

So needless to say when I saw the sentiment mirrored in Oliver Burkeman's final column in The Guardian, it got my attention. After more than a decade of writing life-changing advice, he offers Eight Secrets to a (Fairly) Fulfilled Life, his grand finale for the publication. I've linked to the article below, and I so hope you will give it a read I am also mentioning it here. So simple. So smart. So life-changing.

May I also take a moment to thank you for your support and encouragement as my team and I have launched my new website, cathyriggwriter.com, as well as the updated The Daily Grace. I am beyond blessed to work with the most talented folks around. The amazing and ever-patient builder of the site, Christina Goodman of Artvark Creative, who smiled and cheered and performed coding miracles; Ryon Edwards, Riggs Partners, the nicest, most-talented-designer-in-the-whole-entire-world-and-that-is-not-an-exaggeration, who listened as I rambled endlessly re: my hopes and dreams then made them far more beautiful via design, graphics and color palette; Eliza Ellis of Riggs Partners, Detail Wrangler; Tom Barr of Riggs Partners, Answer Man; and Tom Lacas, 37 Gears, who made the magic happen that rooted the thing in the dirt of the world wide web.

It takes a village to create and launch a website, a smart, kind, caring, generous village, and I am so lucky to be surrounded by the best.

XXOO,
Cathy

A recommendation scrolled by on Instagram just as Tim and I were looking for something to watch, and what serendipity that was. The Peanut Butter Falcon was exactly as good and just exactly as wonderful as promised.

Set in a creepy, isolated house where a young bride believes her new husband is poisoning her and that ghosts walk through walls (per NPR). Mexican Gothic is a great read for lovers of the genre. (Which I am, and BTW I enjoyed this one on audio.)

Feathers All Around

IT HAS BEEN a long time since I have experienced such a surround of feathers. Unexpected though they always are, it is a phenomenon that began for me in 2011, in the last months of my mother's life. Walking that difficult road with someone you love is hard, deeply...

Because change is good.

And change is coming.

IN APRIL, in the early days of Covid, I made the rather impulsive decision to up and self-publish my first novel. I had great support from a handful of writers I deeply respect and who are renown. I had full reads and good interest from multiple literary agents even...
