Fall has arrived, at least according to our passing of the Autumnal Equinox last Monday. Which means we are into the most delicious colors and flavors of the year: rich, deep reds; warm golden yellows; soft, cozy browns; spice-tinted orange. Sage and pumpkin and butternut squash, and handfuls candy corn, and baskets of tiny wrapped chocolates. It is the time of year I love most and not the least because PRAISE HANDS it might finally cool down here in South Carolina's midlands. I love autumn because it is the season of my birthday, and the little girl in me still finds that magical. 🧡🧡🧡

Speaking of. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CERTAIN, am I, that my lead rec on this edition of Grace Notes ought to be County Music, the Ken Burns film that everyone in the world already knows about. But alas, although I've seen more buzz and love for it THAN ANYTHING IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION OR THE HISTORY OF ALL THINGS, and although I am ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CERTAIN it is going to ROCK MY WORLD, I have not seen even one minute of it. Not one. But oh, I will. And I cannot wait to relish every magical, musical, wonderful second.

it's always there

In a world that feels so out of whack, so out of balance, sometimes it feels love and mercy and goodness are on the way out. And then there comes a sweet, powerful, unexpected reminder otherwise.
