Hey there, friend,

YIKES! I've just realized today—Sunday, February 22—is the start of the #The100DayProject and I've failed to alert you!
What is The 100 Day Project? It's a free global art project during which makers and artists do something creative each day for 100 days and if so inclined, share their journeys via social media. While I'm not specifically participating this year (so as not to distract myself from work I want to get done on Novel #2), I will tell you I've participated the past four years and am having a real hard time not jumping in again. I absolutely loved every moment, and I have to say the commitment and the resulting collections filled my heart to overflowing.

How does it work? You simply make a commitment to doing something creative for 100 days.

What could you do? Anything you want, that's the beauty, anything that will feed your creative soul. Knit a row, create a picture from leaves, write a line of poetry, make a sketchbook doodle. Truly anything. You can get some ideas for developing your own project below (there are lots of options via google) and just so you don't feel overwhelmed already—originators suggest a creative exercise that takes just 5-10 minutes. (That's really good advice!) And there's no judgement! Want to begin Tuesday? Go you! Miss a day or two or ten or twenty along the way? It makes no difference. Simply extend your 100 day project as long as you need. Or stop anytime! It's your project.

The first three years, I created 100 tiny watercolors, most of which commemorated something from my day. I'd never painted in watercolor when I started in year one, and while this was not the goal, the effort/practice resulted in me opening an Etsy store! (My inventory is woefully thin; I haven't painted a lick since landing the book contract. See how good the commitment to #the100dayproject would be for me? Perhaps I should. . .)

In 2025, I posted #100perfectsentences, an exercise that fell right in line with the final editing and publication of That Which Binds Us.
Whether or not you participate (and I hope you do!), you can follow artists from around the world via the #the100dayproject hashtag on Instagram. I hope to see you and your creative spirit there!
