We knew we were in the eye of the storm, quite literally speaking. But what is there to do when forecasts call for 10…12…18 inches of rain? You keep an eye on the sky, beg your loved ones to stay off the roads, and hope to high heaven this is one of those misses where you laugh about how silly people are for…begging you to stay off the roads.
That’s just how it seemed all day yesterday. Then around 8 o’clock last night the skies opened up, the rains came with a vengeance and for the last 12.5 hours they haven’t given a thought to backing off. Bickley’s Pond has risen so high the water is cresting at the road on the dam leading into our neighborhood, threatening to top it any minute. The 5-foot high fence along the edge of our property is completely submerged. And the pond itself has swollen to the point our pretty deck–the one with the red adirondack chairs–is now under water.
Current forecast? Five more hours of hard, steady rain.
And so we do the only thing we can: watch, worry, and wait.
I was praying for you last night as I watched the news and thought about you on Bickley’s Pond, Cathy! Continuing to lift you up!! xo
Thank you, friend!
