Day 3: The joy of surprise.

IT TOOK ME forever to see. Tim swore it was there, in a photograph taken by our friend, Paul, when he and Stacy came to visit at the end of October. His was a shot of one of the two Autumn wreathes that hang on our front doors, October to Thanksgiving.

I looked at the image.

I don’t know what you’re showing me, I said.

Look again, he said.

I still don’t.

He smiled and he nodded Again, then.

Wait, I thought.

Is that…

Can that…

I looked to Tim.

Can that possibly be real?

It was!

(How on earth had Paul ever spotted the thing? He is a forester, so maybe there’s that, LOL.)

Here’s his original shot:

I’m gonna give you a whole lot of white space before I give you a closer look.

Do you see?

Here we go!

It’s a lizard that’s molting. Isn’t that incredible?

How this whole situation tickles me!!!

Here’s to the thrill of happy, joyful surprises—

I suspect that lizard hitched a ride from the town of Lizard Lick NC to Columbia SC for the holidays!
