Day 5: The Dancing Trees

Nov 29, 2025 | 30 Days of Joy | 4 comments

I LOVE A Christmas craft, particularly if it’s something I can do while watching The Voice or Survivor or (my current fave) The Diplomat. I’ve had fun these last couple of weeks popping out a few of what I’m calling Dancing Trees. They’re so cute as ornaments or attached to a present or what a sweet garland they’d make.

They’re quick and simple to knit up, and as to materials, I’ve used yarn and beads from my stash. I also had a set of double-pointed needles from my sock-knitting days, so all I needed I already had without a visit to the craft store. (Contrary to the tutorial below, I didn’t worry much about the type of yarn or the size of the needles; I promise you this methodology is very forgiving.) What you’ll do is use the knitting i-cord technique—which I hadn’t done in several years—and a quick YouTube refresher and I was good to go!

Aren’t they cute?

Here’s the tutorial from Our Daily Craft, if you want to consider making your own:

AND I JUST THOUGHT of this! If you’re not a knitter/crafter and you’d like a dancing tree, just comment below or send me an email with the color you want, and I’ll randomly draw three names and send each a tree! I’ll do the drawing Monday, December 1 at 9pm.

YAY!

Here’s another color option. These green trees are in progress and I think they hold great potential!

What a joy it is for me to have you alongside for these 30 Days of Joy! If you do decide to make some Dancing Trees, I hope you’ll send me a photo. I’d love to see.

Happy making!
