So here’s what happened.
I was walking through the parking lot at work, late for an early morning meeting, when I spotted this.
Needless to say, I stopped for the photo. Then as I was checking it out on my iPhone (and continuing to walk quite briskly), I caught the toe of my boot on the edge of the curb and propelled forward onto the concrete sidewalk and the downspout of the gutter.
The next two days included two emergency visits to the doctor, a rather serious set of figure 8 stitches in my arm, a county-wide search for crutches that fit, and much deliberation about whether or not I would recover to make a long-planned business/extended-a-bit-to-make-it-exta-fun trip to NYC.
I am happy to report I made the trip. And in spite of some pretty scary, rather painful moments in which I questioned the grace brought to me by those two little white feathers, this unfortunate incident served as a great reminder of the immeasurable generosity of friends—friends who fill my days with laughter and my life with beauty and love.
More in the next post. But do let me tease it up a bit with this.
Bless your heart. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Ouch!!! Hope you’re on your way to complete recovery, Cathy! Amen to finding Grace in all circumstances!!
So glad you decided in the end to venture to NY – I loved spending time with you and Teresa!
